Here at Your Open Ticket, we believe in the power of teamwork to overcome challenges! At camp, you’ll encounter a variety of obstacles that require you to work together with your fellow counselors to solve. Whether it’s completing morning chores, winning a camp-wide competition, or just navigating the ups and downs of camp life, teamwork is essential.
Some people describe the camp environment as a “bubble,” and it’s true that you’ll be spending a lot of time with the same group of people. This creates a unique opportunity to build strong relationships with a diverse group of individuals, and to learn from each other’s different perspectives and approaches. By working alongside your co-counselors and collaborating with your cabin mates, you’ll gain valuable experience in communication, problem-solving, and persistence.
At camp, you’re more than just coworkers – you’re a family. Spending ten weeks together in close proximity allows us to see each other in a different light, and to develop a special bond that lasts beyond the summer. By participating in team challenges and supporting each other through the ups and downs of camp life, you’ll learn how to be the perfect teammate for your fellow counselors.
We believe that the skills you develop at camp are applicable not just to our camp family, but to any team you work with in the future. Hear from some Your Open Ticket family members below about their experiences with team challenges at summer camp.
You are working with people nearly all the time at camp, so bonds grow between you all very quickly. Learning to work with different ages and abilities greatly developed my skills when working in a team making sure everyone is involved. – Sam Brownlee
Constantly being around people at camp forces you to work as a team. And the best challenges personally included each session’s campout, a big organisational effort, and helping quite a few kids face various fears (mainly trying to toast the perfect marshmallow). – Maeve Mortimer
Teamwork was essential when working with the campers. There are a lot of kids to look after so having a strong team is important. – Nick Pinn
I developed working in a team by learning how different people responded, not everyone had the same approach to things as me but by working in such a close environment you become more flexible and understand how they work which is key to delivering the best experience for campers. – Gabe Connelly
The best challenge I had fun overcoming at camp was being around people all the time. Before camp I enjoyed having time in the day by myself, but while at camp I realised I much preferred spending my time with my friends or talking to my family at home. – Fabienne Cochrane
